Description: The first Alpine Trials were organised by the Imperial Royal Austrian Automobile Club between 1910 and 1914, but the Austrian royalty did not survive World War I, so the event lapsed. Every country with a claim to part of the Alps organised Alpine trials in the 1920s and 1930s and there was the International Alpine Trial from 1928 to 1936, organised by up to seven national clubs. This book sorts out the maze of events called Alpine Trials from 1910 to 1973 with highlights and results. It appears to be a small book, but it's actually a surprisingly comprehensive review of the Alpine Trials, the true predecessor of the stage rallies of today. Packed with period photos covering the long history of this true endurance test for cars and people.
