When cyclist Murdoch Troon is forced off the road by a large car belonging to wealthy and impatient tycoon Charles Chingford, Troon follows him home and quickly falls in love with the businessman`s beautiful daughter, Clare. Her passion is cars, so with the help of his fellow lodger Freddy Fox, Troon eagerly invests in a vintage Bentley - The Fast Lady`, as a device to woo Clare; the only problem is Troon doesn`t have a driving licence!
Taking lessons is his first step, although being paired with a veteran instructor whose nerves are going is prone to disaster, as Troon negotiates a series of near-misses, resulting in another incident with Clare`s father, Chingford, and a gang of bank robbers.
It`s a grand slice of classic comedy with British comic icons including Leslie Phillips (CARRY ON...), Stanley Baxter, James Robertson Justice (CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG), Dick Emery, Frankie Howerd (UP POMPEII), a young Julie Christie and a cameo appearance by racing legend Graham Hill.
