Description: Before World War II, trans-Atlantic flights were carried out by flying boats travelling in relatively easy stages via the Azores, or by giant airships like the Hindenburg. Suddenly, in 1940, it was proposed that land planes should make the journey in one hop, to deliver much needed bombers to Britain from America. This is the story of how it was made to happen, dramatised for television.
