Description: Gulf Oil had been involved in the sponsorship of motor sport for many years before the Gulf Miller Indianapolis cars hit the track in 1938. After the 1941 Indianapolis race there were no more Gulf cars until the blue and orange Gulf Ford GT40s arrived in 1966. Author Michael Cotton describes those early Gulf Millers, then takes us through the story of Gulf liveried racers including the GT40s and the McLaren Can-Am, Indianapolis and F1 cars, through to the successful Gulf McLaren F1GTR GT cars of the 1990s and the fabulous Gulf Audi sports prototypes of 2001. It is a huge story and well told by Cotton. Every motor racing fan will love this excellent book.
