Description: Fay Taylour was a very fast speedway rider when nobody expected a woman to be competitive in what was `obviously` a man`s sport. She started in trials in 1927 and moved to the new sport of dirt track speedway when it began in Britain - imported from Australia. At the end of the 1928 season she headed south to Australia, the first British speedway rider to do so, and successfully challenged and beat WA champion Sig Schlam abd Victorian champion Reg West. After returning to the UK for the 1929 season she again ventured south for a successful season in Australia. That marked the effective end of her speedway career because, when she returned to England after the Australian summer it was to discover that women had been banned from racing in speedway! This book tells the story of a forgotten woman in speedway and her single-minded will to win. It is a great story and a real eye-opener for those who look on speed way as a man`s sport.
