Description: This book is a very comprehensive look at the intertwined history of Benz, Daimler and Mercedes-Benz from the very first days of the automobile in 1885 through to 1955 when the sucess of Mercedes in motorsport helped erase the memories of WW2 and the company`s associated with the Third Reich. This is one of the first books to deal objectively with the relationship of the company with the Nazi Party during that era and is fascinating for the detail it provides on that era. The sections of text are interspersed with a large number of period photographs, often with very detailed captions, showing many behind-the scenes images of the cars in the factory, on the parade grounds, at the battle front, on the race track and in many other situations. Also included is an extensive bibliography of reference books. Expensive, but if you want a definitive story of Daimler-Benz then this will go a long way towards filling in the story of a critical era for the company.
