Description: Mercedes-Benz first competed in the Mille Miglia in 1930 with Carraciola in an SSK without success. That driver pairing won in 1931, but the marque was unsuccessful in 1932 and 1933 after which Mercedes-Benz stayed away until 1952 and the 300SL coupes. In 1955 Stirling Moss won in the 300SLR with teammate Fangio second and John Fitch winning the GT class in a 300SL coupe. 300SLs did well in 1956 (2nd, 3rd and 4th in class) but competed without success in 1957, the last Mille Miglia. This book tells the whole story of Mercedes-Benz and the 1000 miles race wth many archival photographs never before published. It is a great story about one of the world`s great marques.
