Description: This re-issue of the first volume of Doug Nye`s massive saga of the ill-fated BRM racing team will complete the set so far for those who bought the recent second volume. It provides comprehensive deatils of the BRM story up to 1960, beginning with the background - including founders Raymond Mays` and Peter Berthon`s earlier careers - then working through the conception, design and development of the V16, 1.5-litre car and its eventual career as an enormously expensive club racer to the design and development of the P25,4-cylinder, 2.5-litre car, which finally won BRM`s first Grand Prix in 1959. The volume ends with the creation of the first rear-engined BRM for 1960 and there is a detailed appendix listing BRM`s racing career from 1949 to 1960 and complete technical specifications of the cars to complete the book.

BRM Volume 2 - The Spaceframe Cars covers these rear-engined cars from 1959 to 1965, while BRM Volume 3 - The Monocoque V8 Cars (released February 2008) looks at the Formula One and Tasman cars from 1964 to 1969. When published, Volume 4 will cover the H16 and V12 from 1966 until the end of the BRM story. This brilliant history of a very British racing team is a must buy for every classic Grand Prix racing enthusiast.
