Description: AC sports cars from 1933 were fitted with AC`s own long-lived six-cylinder engine, dating from 1919, but the quest for power saw the Ace being fitted with the Bristol six in 1955 and later, when supplies of Bristol engines dried up, modified 2.6-litre Ford engines from the Mark II Zephyr. This book traces the history of all the six-cylinder sports cars and describes the development of each of the three engines, including the Ruddspeed Fords and the Raymond Mays alloy head used on that engine. Of course, the Zephyr engine also went out of production, resulting in the substitution of a small block Ford V8 at the instigation of Carroll Shelby, but that`s another story. A great read about an old-established British sports car marque.
