Comments: New version of Escort with squarer styling. Initially 1298 cc in Australia, then 1598cc and 1998cc from June 1976. 1845 cc BDA engined RS1800s are very rare. Australian RS2000s have 2 or 4 doors - only 2 door version sold in Europe. Sedans replaced in Australia by the Mazda 323 derived Laser hatchback in March 1981, Escort vans continued until 1982. This Mk II model replaced by Mk III in Europe. Mk II also available in 1.1 L and 1.8 L versions in other markets.
