Description: Dwight D Eisenhower initiated the building of the American Interstate Highway system in 1956. Claude Clayton Smith used the system, now 99.98% complete, to lap America, or at least the USA, in a red Corvette. This book is the story of that trip, but it is more. The many anecdotes inicluded in the story tell of the development of the Interstates, their importance and many of the funny, tragic or just plain interesting stories about the Interstates. It is a window into the real America and a great read.
