Publisher`s notes:
When Albert Sabriskie left Poland and sailed to America in 1659 he was penniless. He started farming in New Jersey, buying more land when he had the money. His descendants continued in the family tradition, even buying land in Manhattan. Albert`s great great great grandson Martin Zborowski died in 1878 leaving an estate worth, allegedly, $40,000,000 which was divided between his son Elliott, his daughter Anna and a step daughter. Elliott, now very wealthy, opted for the carefree playboy lifestyle, enjoying hunting, polo and travel. He married Margaret, Baroness de Stuers, after her divorce. She was the grand-daughter of William Backhouse Astor and consequently wealthy in her own right. They both roamed Europe gaining a reputation for lavish hospitality. They had a son, Louis, on 1895, just as his father was becoming interested in the motorcar. After finishing among the leaders in the 1902 race from Paris to Vienna Elliott became an enthusiastic competitor until he was killed in 1903 racing a Mercedes up the Corniche Road from Nice to La Turbie. His son grew up wanting to become a racing driver for Mercedes. After building and racing his famous Chitty Bang Bang cars after the Great War he achieved his ambition to drive a factory car for Mercedes. On the 44th lap of the 1924 Italian Grand Prix at Monza Louis lost control and died in the resulting crash. His young widow later married Paris Singer.
