Description: In 1922, few Europeans had crossed the Sahara. Lieutenant Louis Audouin-Dubreuil had been posted to the Sahara as a young air force officer in January 1917, where he served under Lieutenant Lafarge for the remainder of World War I. His experience in the desert, described in Chapter 1 of this book, led him to return to the desert in 1922 to head an expedition that aimed to drive Citroen half-track trucks through the desert to Timbuctu. Chapter 2 tells the story of that expedition and its return to Algeria by a differenrt route. It is an amazing story, told by Audouin-Dubreuil`s daughter Ariane, from the diaries left by her father. It is a must read for any lover of adventure and classic motoring.
